How do I put an AirTag in Lost Mode

To put your Apple AirTag in Lost Mode, follow these steps:

Steps to Activate Lost Mode

1. Open the Find My App: Ensure your iPhone or iPad is connected to the internet and launch the Find My app, which is pre-installed on Apple devices.

2. Select the Items Tab: Tap on the Items tab at the bottom of the screen to view all your registered items, including AirTags.

3. Choose Your AirTag: Scroll through the list and select the AirTag you want to mark as lost. This will open a detailed view showing its last known location.

4. Activate Lost Mode: In the detailed view, look for the Lost Mode option and tap on it. A new screen will guide you through activating Lost Mode.

5. Enter Contact Information: You will be prompted to enter your contact information (either a phone number or email address) that will be displayed to anyone who finds your AirTag.

6. Add a Custom Message: Optionally, you can include a custom message, such as “This item is lost. Please contact me if found,” to assist the finder in returning your item.

7. Enable Notifications: Ensure that notifications are enabled so you'll receive alerts if your AirTag's location is updated or if it’s found by another device.

8. Complete Activation: After confirming all information, tap to activate Lost Mode. You can now close the Find My app[1][2][4].

Once Lost Mode is activated, if another Apple device comes near your AirTag, you will receive notifications about its location. Additionally, anyone who finds your AirTag can tap it with their NFC-enabled device to access your contact information[3][4].
