What are the top cities for Verizon 5G in Texas

Verizon is expanding its 5G network in Texas, bringing reliable 4G and high-speed 5G Ultra Wideband service to residents and visitors[1]. The company recently turned on new cell sites in Frisco, Aubrey, Prosper, Addison, and McKinney, TX[1]. The upgraded service in Frisco serves Frisco Station, the Ford Center, and the areas surrounding Dallas North Tollway and Lebanon Road[1]. In Aubrey, the new site supports new development around Highway 377[1]. In Prosper, the new cell site supports the community around Gentle Creek Country Club and Custer Road[1]. In Addison, the new site serves residential and commercial areas near the Dallas North Tollway and Interstate 635, including the Galleria Mall, and will also service the future Dallas Midtown development[1]. In McKinney, a new site along Independence Parkway provides users with coverage and capacity where they had previously struggled[1].

According to a 2021 PCMag article, Dallas and Houston are among the best cities for Verizon 5G[5]. In Dallas, Verizon's millimeter-wave 5G in Deep Ellum, University Park, and along the freeways produced average 5G download speeds of 355Mbps and upload speeds of 40Mbps[5]. In Houston, Verizon had the fastest overall 5G download speeds, with average downloads of 180Mbps[5].

While a 2022 Opensignal report notes that six of the top 10 cities for 5G availability are in Texas, it does not specify that these cities are the best for Verizon 5G[2]. The six cities are McAllen, Brownsville, San Antonio, Waco, El Paso, and Austin[2]. Verizon's 5G network covers 17% of Texas, including the main cities: Austin, San Antonio, Dallas, Houston, Abilene, Tyler, Waco, and Amarillo[3].
