To access the cabin air filters in a Tesla Model 3:
1. Remove the floor mat and trim pieces on the passenger side to access the glove box area[1][3][5].
2. Remove the access panel underneath the glove box by unscrewing the single screw at the bottom[1][3].
3. Pull out the access panel to reveal the two stacked cabin air filters behind it[1][3][5].
4. The filters are held in place with tabs. Pull the top filter down and out first, then pull the bottom filter up and out[1][3][5].
5. Insert the new filters with the airflow direction arrow pointing towards the front of the car[1][3][5].
6. Reinstall the access panel, making sure the lined part faces outwards, and secure it with the screw[1].
7. Reattach the trim pieces and floor mat[1][3][5].
The cabin air filters are located behind the glove box on the passenger side. Two filters need to be replaced every 2 years according to Tesla's recommendations[4]. Aftermarket filter kits are available that include the necessary tools to easily access and replace the filters[1][3].
