To connect your Garmin DriveAssist to Smartphone Link, follow these steps:
1. Install the Smartphone Link app on your phone from the app store[1].
2. Ensure your Garmin DriveAssist device and phone are within 3 meters (10 feet) of each other[1].
3. On your Garmin DriveAssist device:
- Go to Settings > Wireless Networks
- Select the Bluetooth check box
- Select "Search for Devices"[1]
4. On your phone:
- Enable Bluetooth
- Set the phone to be discoverable (refer to your phone's manual for instructions)[1]
5. On the Garmin DriveAssist, select "OK" to begin searching for nearby Bluetooth devices[1].
6. When your phone appears in the list of Bluetooth devices (which may take up to a minute), select it and choose "OK"[1].
7. On your phone, confirm the pairing request[1].
8. Open the Smartphone Link app on your phone[1].
9. If you're using an Apple device, a security code will appear on the Garmin DriveAssist screen. Enter this code on your phone within 30 seconds[1][5].
10. For Android devices, the connection should be established automatically after opening the Smartphone Link app[4].
If you didn't connect to Smartphone Link during the initial setup, you can still do so later by following these steps. Once connected, your Garmin DriveAssist will be able to access features like live traffic and parking information, as well as other connected features[1].
